Research - Director (Production Role)

The director is someone who oversees and directs a production, they have to control the film's artistic and dramatic elements while directing the actors and film crew, usually under the film producer

The director develops a vision for the film and make it come to life. They are also responsible for the decision of the camera angles, lens effects and lighting. They often have to take part in the hiring of crew members. Writing, financing, editing and scheduling are also parts of film making that a director may be involved in.  Directors are also responsible for motivating the crew so that the best possible outcome can happen.

Skills:

The Chase Task

In my team there was Charley Perkins, Caitlyn Whittaker and Beth Wilson. We all discussed which role we would each prefer to have and made sure no one had a role that they didn't want. I was the director, which meant I was the one who had to make sure that everyone was in the right place at the right time and although we had a fair say in which shots that we should use, I had to decide the final one. Charley and Beth were the actors and Charley did the editing but checked everything was okay with me. Caitlyn had control of the camera so she would tell us if the shot needed to be done again or not and she also made the powerpoint with Beth. I think we all worked very well as a team because we shared out everything equally and we all agreed on everything we did. We all came up with the plot together and we thought that dressing Charley in white and Beth in black would symbolise good and bad.
